Creative Partnerships
Chad Vale is a member of a Creative Consortium,
a partnership of five schools in our local community. Together, a bid was
successful to provide creative links with a range of professional arts, drama
and music groups. This partnership is named 'Firebird'.
Working with musicians from Punch Records and artists from
Women and Theatre, every class has been part of making their own CD and some
classes have worked on extended projects for acting and performing skills. Year
Six completed a drama project linked to their transition from primary to
secondary school. Below is an extract from the 'Women and Theatre' web-site with
further details, and a link to their web-site.

Women & Theatre is devising projects using drama and other art forms to
facilitate creative learning across the curriculum.
Working with Chad Vale Primary School, St Georges CE Primary School, Canterbury
Cross Primary School, St Paul's RC Secondary School for Girls and Harborne Hill
Secondary School, Women & Theatre has delivered a range of individual and
cluster-wide projects targeting both pupils and staff, in response to the shared
and individual needs of the schools. Recent Projects include:
MOVING ON UP
Originally created with Yr 6 pupils @ Chad Vale.
Use drama & roleplay and groupwork to help prepare yr 6 pupils for a successful
move into Secondary school.
To raise confidence & communication skills by encouraging the sharing of fears
to find common strength. To give skills for dealing positively with new
situation. These skills are transferable to many different aspects of future
life. To pass on information about young people’s concerns to secondary schools
so that the work can inform induction programmes for new pupils. Notes to be
given to primary schools so that this becomes an integral part of the “Moving
Up” programme every year.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This
term, Women & Theatre is leading 2 projects to support staff development:
School Production Master Class & Mentoring
In response to requests of supporting the production of Christmas shows, W&T is
leading a project that will inspire and support staff producing school plays. An
initial Master class will be led by an experienced director who will examine
issues such as: choosing a play, casting, staging, warm-up exercises, bringing
the best out of performers and a range of other directing tips. The master class
will also be attended by other artists each of which will be designated to a
school to provide continued support through the creative process with up to 2
visits into rehearsals or additional meetings as appropriate.
